Just five years ago, I had a thriving career as a software executive.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that, like many people in my age group, I was also a family caregiver. Somewhere in the previous eight years, along with my amazing brothers, I had become a key player in managing our parents’ lives.

I spent hours walking in circles with mom in memory care since she could no longer communicate verbally; days worrying about whether dad’s Ambien would show up (and illegally smuggling some of my husband’s Ambien to dad just so he could sleep at night); and weeks worrying about both of their futures.

During the process, I became close with most of the care team at their community. And I realized that we had many tools in the corporate world to solve communication problems that did not exist in senior care.

When I sat down to talk with Jesse Marble about failures and faux pas in my career, it occurred to me that we rarely show our flaws in our professional lives. So I wanted to share this podcast with you. Just in case you enjoy hearing about goofs and lessons that lead people to new places in their lives.

Everything I’ve done in my career has led me to the senior care industry. And I finally have a sense of contributing to the world at a higher level. I want to make the world a better place. For all of us.
