New Grant Funding

The company recently received a total of $250,000 in grant funding from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade’s (OEDIT) Advanced Industries Accelerator Program. The program promotes growth and sustainability in key sectors, like technology, seeking to accelerate commercialization, encourage public-private partnerships, increase access to early-stage capital and create a strong ecosystem that increases Colorado’s global competitiveness. The grant recognizes the potential of the company as well as several key performance milestones.

Team Growth

The team at Serenity is also growing with Kelly Hickey joining founder and CEO Katherine Wells and Rob Pinna, co-founder and VP of engineering, on the leadership team as CFO. Hickey brings more than 25 years of experience as a finance and operations professional spanning from startups to large public companies.  Most recently she was the CFO/COO and co-founder of Silvernest, a roommate matching service designed for 50+ individuals.

Client Growth

Additionally, the company noted significant customer wins, growing the roster more than 80% over nine months. A few current customers include:

  • Home Care Assistance – Senior Home Care and Elder Care Services providing older adults with one-on-one support that allows them to live safely and independently at home.
  • Assured Assisted Living – Residential Care creating a living environment that’s the closest thing to home, along with cutting-edge, quality care enabling older adults to thrive physically, intellectually and socially.
  • Boonton Care Center – Skilled Nursing Community focused on long-term care from a team of dedicated skilled nursing professionals delivering, compassionate, rehabilitative nursing care.

Launched in 2019, Serenity Engage is a HIPAA-compliant group messaging platform that streamlines communication between everyone providing care to an older adult – improving quality of care, strengthening relationships between care teams and families, saving caregivers time by streamlining workloads, and offering families greater peace of mind regarding their loved ones.
It is common for an older adult’s care team to consist of 5-15 disparate providers and caregivers, many from separate organizations – including senior care communities, hospice, home health, home care, pharmacy, and transportation services. By consolidating communications between all providers and family members onto one platform, Serenity Engage streamlines care coordination, lowers costs, and improves caregiver retention. The platform has been proven to optimize senior care community operational efficiencies, resulting in savings of more than $50,000 per year.
